That açaí is a fruit from the Amazon region and is one of the main sources of food for the population of this region, most of us already know.

What not everyone knows is how this little purple fruit fell in love with Brazilians, from north to south, and today it is exported to several countries, reaching almost all continents.

The consumption of açaí in Brazil

The most interesting part of this success story is that we, Brazilians, produce more than 80% of all açaí in the world, with the State of Pará being the largest consumer and producer of the fruit. Following, we have São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais as major consumers.

Did you know that the United States buys around 40% of all açaí produced in Pará? The list of importers continues with Japan, Australia, Germany, Belgium, Singapore, France, China, Holland and Portugal.

The açaí we export reaches almost all continents. It sounds like a lot, but its not. Although it has a smaller flow to Europe and other countries, the açaí trade demonstrates an enormous potential for growth in demand and supply.

Are you already part of the group of açaí exporters?

Tips for exporting acai
  • Good negotiation practices between the producer and the foreign entrepreneur offer a more advantageous scenario, financially. Your partnership must yield profit, a partnership that economically values the parties in the business.
  • Another way to adjust your business strategy is by checking the possible contracts for marketing your products, whether agency, distribution or franchising contracts.
  • Respect for international production and quality certifications also contribute to boosting, and a lot, the demand for the açaí produced. They are food and beverage certificates, especially in the largest consuming countries, which guide the inspection of food purchases.
  • Bet on a differentiated and practical packaging to value the product and bring more prominence.
Taking advantage of the acai harvest

Good practices greatly value our produced açaí. However, the timing of the harvest greatly influences the final quality. We can divide the açaí harvest into three stages. Lets see:

One of the possible harvests takes place during the first quarter of the year, a time when the fruit is difficult to ripen and when the açaí is very black, with green spots.

Another harvest moment occurs when the fruit is also very black but without the white layer, characteristic of the best harvest time. At this point, the fruit can also be consumed normally, despite having a slightly lower quality.

And finally, the best time. It is customary to harvest the fruits of the açaí tree between August and November, when the açaí is more mature. At this point we can see in the fruit a very black color and a whitish layer. A great harvest time.

The role of technology in production

The machines allow for fast, uninterrupted production. This results in greater scale and revenue. What would take you hours to produce manually, automation can solve in a few minutes, turning repetitive manual work into automatic and skilled work.

With greater production, due to automation, combined with cost reduction, we have greater profitability. The increase in billing offsets the investment in machines and has a beneficial impact on the companys cash flow.

And how to impact the final consumer of Acai?

We need to highlight here the different demands for the fruit, correct? We have açaí ready for our national market and for global demand.

It is important to remember the excellence in quality required by the foreign market, both for the product and the packaging in which it will be transported.

For this, a supplier whose packaging complies with international quality standards is able to stand out from the competition and attract the attention of importers who value quality.

Count on who can provide the best quality in filling and packaging for your açaí.
